The next edition of the “Chants contre Champs” festival will be held from November 13 to 16, 2025 in Angers, in the Hauts de Saint-Aubin district. This event, which highlights the links between music and image, is in its second edition after a successful first event in March 2024.
Founded by Yves Maguin, filmmaker and audiovisual trainer, the festival is supported by several personalities from the artistic world, including dubbing actors Philippe Peythieu and Véronique Augereau, respectively godfather and godmother of the event, as well as the French voices of Homer and Marge Simpson for 35 years.
A competition focused on image and sound
The festival program will consist of a competition of short films and music videos, bringing together between 15 and 20 films and up to 12 clips, broadcast in several sessions.
« Each winner will leave with a trophy, and special mentions could be awarded by the jury, made up of cinema and music professionals. », explains Yves Maguin.
Several prizes will be awarded, including best musical creation, best short film, best music video, as well as best original music.
« To compete in the competition, we have already opened our call for films, whether they are short films with original music or music videos “, he continues. Registrations are done online until May 31, 2025.
For this new edition, “Chants contre Champs” is moving to the Hauts de Saint-Aubin district thanks to a partnership with the Collectif du Lieu Artistique et Culturel (CLAC) and the Neighborhood House.

Personalities at the meeting
The festival will be able to count on the presence of several personalities from the audiovisual world, such as the composer Erwann Chandon, the actress and voice actress Dorothée Pousséo, as well as the director Victor Cesca.
Named respectively godfather and godmother of the next edition, Philippe Peythieu and Véronique Augereau will also be there in November 2025. Partners in the city as on screen, the two actors have been lending their voices for 35 years to the characters of Homer and Marge Simpson.
« We were present during the first edition and we will be there for the next one. As people from Angers by birth, it is an honor for us to sponsor this small festival which is growing more and more and which has a lot of ambition. », explains Véronique Augereau.
Workshops and concerts on the program
Beyond the screenings, “Chants contre Champs” also includes concerts highlighting local artists, round tables on themes linked to film music,
« Dorothée Pousseo and Kelly Marot will honor us with their presence to hold two 2-hour dubbing workshops, limited to twelve people per session », rejoices the organizer.
Fun activities will complete the program, such as blind tests, karaoke, exhibitions and games, in partnership with Esthua students and local residents.
The festival also wishes to give an important place to cultural awareness among young people thanks to “ workshops and activities offered in primary schools with the help of cultural mediation students, to introduce children to interactions between music and cinema ».
With a forecast budget of 22,000 euros for 2025, the team is seeking to sustain the event: “ We plan to expand our activities through partnerships with other neighborhood centers in Angers in the years to come. », concludes Yves Maguin.
