The ministry will carry out a detailed analysis to determine whether action must be taken.
“Out of respect for current or future investigations, both by police authorities and the coroner's office, the Ministry will not make public the conclusions of its analysis regarding the role of the road environment,” added the spokesperson.
The MTQ specified that it will also take note of the coroner's recommendations, analyze them and “take additional actions if necessary.”
Asked about the possibility of completely closing truck traffic on this section, the Minister of Transport, Geneviève Guilbault, indicated that it was necessary to wait for the conclusions of the investigations carried out by the MTQ and the possible recommendations of the coroner assigned to the file, before make decisions.
She took the opportunity to recall Bill 48, which notably requires compulsory training to obtain class 1.
“Which will contribute even more to improving security,” she mentioned.
She also wanted to offer her condolences to the loved ones of the victim, Alexandra Poulin. Coroner Sophie Régnière will conduct an investigation into the death.
