Unlike last year, Quebec will experience a major cold snap to mark the start of the holidays, but will also be treated to a white Christmas. If a few centimeters of snow are expected in the south of the province by Tuesday, some regions will be treated to a real snowstorm.

Snow will be arriving during the holiday season this weekend – two days that promise to be cold throughout Quebec.
In Greater Montreal, Environment Canada is forecasting a temperature of -9°C on Saturday, but could reach -20°C with the wind chill, or even -25°C overnight from Saturday to Sunday.
A light layer of snow will first appear during the night from Friday to Saturday in Greater Montreal, approximately one centimeter. But it was on the evening of December 23, until the next morning, that it would truly settle in southern Quebec.
Just in time for Christmas, we'd go get [environ] a 3 to 5 centimeters.
Jean-Philippe Bégin, spokesperson at Environment Canada
In eastern Quebec, depending on the region, between 15 and 35 centimeters will fall from Saturday until Sunday morning. This storm will mainly affect the northeast of Gaspésie and the Lower North Shore. The organization also notes that an extreme cold warning was issued for the regions of Matagami, Abitibi and Témiscamingue as of Friday evening. Temperatures of -30°C, and -38°C overnight, will be felt over the next two days.
“Cover yourself. Frostbite can develop within minutes on skin exposed to wind chill,” reminds Environment Canada.
Last year, Christmas Day did not have a white coat for the occasion in almost all regions of Quebec. On December 25, in the middle of the day, the temperature peaked at 5°C.
