Wooden fish above the Place des Machines, fabric algae on the ground, a deep “glaz” blue… From Saturday December 21, 2024 to Sunday January 5, 2025, the Ateliers des Capucins celebrate the magic of Christmas on the theme of the seabed and the mystery they generate. Except for December 25 and 31 and January 1, activities and workshops will be offered every day on site. After a “magical-cosmic” atmosphere in 2023, the Rennes collective Les Oeils is back this year, with its scenography paying homage to the seabed, Place des Machines, accompanied by the lighting of Audiolite. For the occasion, a bar and a food truck will be set up from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., every day, and it will be possible to enjoy a relaxation area with free access. To complete the decor, Les Oeils are offering, this weekend, to contribute to the staging of the Christmas Workshops as part of free scenography workshops, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
An orchestra by candlelight
Among the highlights of the event, “Candlelight” concerts, during which a mini-orchestra will play great well-known tunes in the middle of numerous lit candles, Passage des Arpètes. On the menu during these holidays: Hans Zimmer, Queen, Coldplay and Imagine Dragons and Christmas music. Be careful, some sessions are already sold out and you will have to hurry to get a ticket. Another flagship event from Thursday December 26 to Sunday December 29, the Manège Salé and its crazy actors will delight children, who will be able to ride on a whale, a langoustine or a sea turtle made of sheet metal, steel or aluminum.
Diving into the abyss
On Saturday, December 28, older children can go to the 70.8 museum to learn all the secrets of submarines, in the presence of an active commander. On December 23 and 30, the museum will offer a sound dive into the heart of the depths of the ocean in the presence of a scientific mediator. On January 3, older children will be able to enjoy, lying down, a musical journey into the unconscious, during an immersive concert in the dark. It's free and requires registration!
