Discover French Sign Language (FSL) through an improvised theater laboratory!

How can we make a clear, sensitive and attractive situation accessible to everyone (deaf, hearing, allophones)? This is the question that the Confiture Mitaine Company invites you to answer during a research laboratory around improvised theater, without words or signs.

This workshop, offered to students, extends the Company’s questions on the art of telling stories without words, by exploring universal communication through gestures and body play.

A theater without words: at the crossroads of cultures

Classic improvisation matches are based on the eloquence of words, knowing references (literary, cinematographic, etc.), and humor shared with an audience fond of burlesque situations.

In deaf culture, it is non-verbal communication that takes precedence: the precision of a gesture, amplified by the whole body, its rhythm and its intensity, visual expressiveness as a means of captivating an audience.

How can we enrich these two approaches to invent a more universal, accessible and unique theatrical game, capable of bringing together a mixed audience? It is this challenge that you will meet through these unique workshops.

A program to develop your body game

During these workshops, you will learn to develop captivating situations with an emphasis on body play, in a more stretched time and a more precise space.

The sessions will include typical theatrical exercises (confidence, rhythm, creation of characters, etc.) in order to help your body emancipate itself and propose situations that are 100% visual, 100% accessible, 100% universal.

A public restitution to close the experience

To finalize the project, a public restitution will be organized in the form of an improvisation match pitting the students against amateurs from the Compagnie Confiture Mitaine.

Join this artistic adventure to push the boundaries of theater and discover a game accessible to all!
