The authorities are planning a heavy human toll on the island of Mayotteafter the passage of tropical cyclone Chido. Colossal damage has been deplored on this island, which is already facing numerous difficulties, particularly in terms of sanitation and access to water.
THE mayors of the municipalities of Angers Loire Métropole want to show solidarity.
Exceptional aid released by the urban community
To help Mayotte cope with this exceptional situation, a surge of solidarity is organized throughout France. Local authorities have already announced their support for this national support. The municipalities of Angers Loire Métropole will also participate in this effort: exceptional aid of 30,000 euros will be unlocked for Mayotte.
Pour Christophe Béchu, president of Angers Loire Métropole: “The drama that Mayotte is going through arouses significant emotion. No one can remain indifferent to these images of the devastated island, of completely destroyed shanty towns. Much damage has been reported on this island, already weakened by poverty and violence.
Help from the urban community will be adopted on the occasion of the permanent commission of January 10, 2025.
