The Libyan House of Representatives and the High Council of State welcome Morocco’s efforts for peace in Libya

The Libyan House of Representatives and the High Council of State expressed their gratitude to the Kingdom of Morocco for its constant commitment to resolving the Libyan crisis and restoring security and stability in the country.

“We extend our sincere thanks to Morocco, King, government and people, for the warm welcome and continued support given to the Libyan people, contributing to putting an end to the crisis and strengthening unity and stability in Libya,” he said. declared Salah Mitou, member of the High Council of State, when reading the final communiqué at the end of the consultative meeting held in Bouznika.

This meeting, which brought together 120 participants, is part of the Inter-Libyan Dialogue and aims to relaunch the political process in Libya, with the aim of organizing presidential and parliamentary elections on the basis of a sheet of road leading to the formation of a unity government.

Morocco, under the High Instructions of King Mohammed VI, played an active role in mediation, hosting in 2015 in Skhirat rounds of dialogue between the Libyan parties under the aegis of the United Nations. These efforts culminated in the Skhirat Agreement, a major milestone in the search for a solution to the crisis.

The Skhirat Agreement allowed the creation of the Presidential Council of the Government of National Accord and the establishment of mechanisms aimed at unifying the institutions of the Libyan state, organizing elections and ensuring national unity and sovereignty territorial.
