A little history

The Brasserie de la Bourse, Witness to the “Belle Époque”

Inaugurated in 1927, the Brasserie de la Bourse de is the symbol of unparalleled architecture and tradition. You will taste all the regional and traditional specialties in a friendly and warm atmosphere.

Inside, you are surrounded by Belle Époque and uniformed waiters. A brasserie with a certain and unique charm.

The Brasserie de la Bourse is located in a building classified as a historic monument.

After the building of the Bourse du Commerce was put out to tender, the construction project was entrusted to Robert Voelckel under the direction of Paul Dopff.

Construction began in 1914, stopped and did not resume until 1924.

The building was inaugurated on June 12, 1927, along with the Restaurant de la Bourse, by the Minister of Commerce and Industry, Henri Bokanowski.

Following the crisis of 1929, the building was not occupied for long by the Bourse de Commerce. It will notably be replaced by union headquarters. The restaurant, for its part, has continued to exist until today and has become over time a true Strasbourg institution.

The facade, made entirely of pink sandstone, takes up French architecture from the end of the 18th century, marked by the Louis XVI style and neoclassicism. The ground floor has a slatted structure forming semi-circular arcades around most of the openings.
