Point 42 of the Lorient Agglomération community council on December 10, 2024 mentioned a subject linked to the floods: a new help with installing cofferdams. Presentation.
What are cofferdams used for?
“In order to support users who are victims of flooding in the event of heavy rain, Lorient Agglomération is providing financial assistance for the purchase and installation of cofferdams,” indicates the community, which specifies:
Anti-flood barriers to protect homes: cofferdams are anti-flood devices that are placed in front of openings (entrance doors, garages, basements, bay windows, etc.) in the event of heavy rain and risks flooding. These are temporary, removable and most often custom-made structures, which protect the entrance to the home from water.
How to benefit from the help?
The community indicates that this is a “temporary solution” to the multiplication of intense rainy episodes and overflows of the rainwater network in certain areas.
The installation of cofferdams can quickly prevent water from entering buildings.
Lorient Agglomération will provide financial support to users for the purchase of cofferdams:
This aid will be limited to 80% of the amount of the acquisition and installation (rails), capped at €4,000 including tax per building at the same postal address.
Who is eligible?
Individual homes (primary or secondary residence (owners or tenants)), professional premises: businesses, shops, associations, local authorities) and buildings located in an area identified for the recurrence of floods, or premises flooded since 2018 , are eligible for this aid.
Real estate complexes of a more complex nature or comprising several buildings will be the subject of a specific study and a deliberation adapted to their situation.
Beneficiaries must provide proof of flooding (photo, video, declaration to insurance or town hall).
