Construction prices rose slightly in October, pushed up by increases recorded in both building and civil engineering. Calculated by the Federal Statistical Office (FSO), the related index gained 0.1% over a half-year to 115.2 points.

The building price sub-index increased by 0.1% compared to last April, standing at 115.2 points. This increase is attributable to the prices of the “electrical installations”, “fees” and “structural work” groups, specifies the press release. In annual comparison, the increase is 0.4%.
For construction, federal statisticians have noted price increases in the Lake Geneva region (+0.5%) and in the northwest of the country. Stability prevailed in Zurich. Central Switzerland (-0.3%) recorded the largest decline.
As for civil engineering, an increase of 0.4% over one semester and 1.0% over one year was recorded, with the subindex posting 114.7 points. The “honorary” and “plots” groups (earthworks, superstructure works) supported the upward trend.
The Lake Geneva region and central Switzerland are again at two extremes, with the first showing a monthly increase of 1.1% and the second a decrease of 0.5%. Eastern Switzerland and Espace Mittelland are the only two other areas where civil engineering prices have increased.
