When the wind blows, it is not good to take shelter near La Marseillaise. Managed by the social landlord Nanterre Coop Habitat, this social residence located at 42 avenue de la République in Nanterre (Hauts-de-Seine) has the unfortunate tendency to dispose of pieces of wood covering the facade. In less than a month, two 2 m boards high are unhooked and crushed to the ground. Other portions, in poor condition or half unscrewed, had to be removed as a precaution. Exasperated tenants are still waiting for major work and more substantial security measures.
“It’s going to fall on someone”
“They put filetsbut not everywhere, and not on the Avenue de la République side which is very busy,” says Clara, a tenant since 2015 in this six-story residence, built by Bouygues Immobilier and delivered in 2008. “Since the beginning, there have been problems, particularly with the windows which let in drafts. But this is another level. I don’t understand how a relatively new residence, supposed to be ecological, falls apart like that. Their thing is very nice, but it doesn’t hold up at all. If they don’t do anything it will end bump into someone ».
The incidents, which occurred a few days apart, did not fail to worry tenants and owners – the building being made up of two identical blocks, dedicated on one side to social housing, on the other to accession to the property.
After the first plaque fell from the fourth floor into a garden at the foot of the residence in October 2023, a second fell in November, this time on the street side. The tenants noticed that several other wooden panels were coming loose or were cracked. The boards removed for safety expose the layers of insulation of the dislocated facade. “In the adjoining apartments, it is very cold and damp,” Clara describes.
“We’ve had nets outside our windows for six months”
Despite the alerts and the urgency of the situation, the work is still pending, and concern is growing. “We’ve had nets outside our windows for six months. As soon as there is wind, we are not reassured at all”sighs the resident. Despite several meetings with the lessor and the subject being put on the agenda during the last neighborhood council, the tenants have still not received official confirmation or precise details on the work to be carried out. “We’ve been talking about work for over a year, but nothing has happened. Scaffolding was installed and then removed. In the meantime, they put barriers in front of the facade without explaining why, then they removed them too,” recalls the tenant.
If the diagnostics carried out have indeed confirmed defects on the part of the manufacturera parameter came to delay the handling of the work, explains to Paris news Nanterre Coop Habitat. THE Nanterre Castle nearby is surrounded by a “historical monuments” perimeter in which the La Marseillaise residence is located. “We made our declaration of work in June 2024, but we only received favorable feedback last week,” we are told on the phone.
Work planned for early January
The work should be able to begin within “the first days of January”, we are assured. They plan to review the exterior insulation and renovate the facade. According to the planned projections, the pieces of joinery will no longer be part of the decor, or in much more modest proportions. As for the duration of the project, it was not communicated to us.
Also contacted, the project owner Bouygues Immobilier indicates to Paris news : “The work was contracted as a general contractor. The work damage guarantee had been activated during the ten-year period. Since 2018, the end of the ten-year guarantee, our after-sales service has not received any request from Nanterre Coop Habitat, which must certainly have contacted the general contractor and the “Damages-Ouvrage” insurer on the subject. “.
