On Wednesday December 11, 2024, a simulated civil security exercise will take place in the town of Mimizan, in Landes, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. This event, organized around the theme of marine submersion on the beach, aims to test the effectiveness and coordination of the various rescue and security services.
A full-scale test
This exercise will make it possible to mobilize and coordinate law enforcement, firefighters, health services and other actors involved in crisis management. Deployments of human and material resources are therefore expected in the municipality during this day.
The FR-Alert alert system will also be put to the test. As such, residents of Mimizan and surrounding areas could receive alert notifications on their cell phones. It is important to remember that this is only an exercise, and that no specific behavior is expected from the population.
Precautions and instructions for residents
The Landes prefecture invites residents to respect the following instructions:
- Do not relay false information on social networks.
- Respect the work of the mobilized teams for this exercise.
If you have any questions, a telephone line is available at Mimizan town hall on 05 58 09 44 44.
A reminder: civil security, everyone’s business
This exercise is part of a process of continuous improvement in the management of natural risks. It reflects the commitment of local authorities to protect the population from climatic hazards, such as marine flooding, which can occur on the coast.
By collaborating with those on the ground, residents indirectly contribute to the effectiveness of crisis prevention and management systems. The Landes prefecture thanks all participants and the population in advance for their understanding and cooperation.
Reminder: This is a simulated exercise only.
