The Poitevin delegation took up residence this Wednesday in Massy where the French junior short course championships are taking place from December 5 to 9. And Stade Poitevin will be very well represented in this competition with eight qualifiers.
“We are quite ambitioussourit Marc Brishoual. Apart from our two swimmers born in 2010 (Antoine Drissi and Thimothé Menard) who only have one French championship in their legs, the others are arriving at the end of their junior year course. So they have three or four years of experience in this competition. Overall, it works well for us. Last year, in Montluçon where we had seven swimmers, we won a title (Alice Roux on 800 m NL) and obtained two fourth places (Maëlle Florek on 50 m backstroke and Chloé Picon on 50 m breaststroke). The idea would be to improve this record. »
Several medals in the sights for Alice Roux
Alice Roux will once again be one of the spearheads of the Poitevin delegation. “She must be able to bring home one or two medals and, why not, a title”assures the technical director of Stade Poitevin, referring in particular to his third place over 1,500 m at the French Elite championships, last month in Montpellier.
In great form for several weeks, Maëlle Florek also has the arguments to perform and get a medal. Chloé Picon will try to do the same although her start to the season will be a little more complicated.
It will also be the first French juniors under the Poitevin colors of the recruit, Thomas Bourlet, French junior champion in the 200m NL last year. “He is capable of getting on the podium in one or two events without any problem”estimates Marc Brishoual.
Benjamin Tabutaud, for his part, has the means to reach the final. An objective that Antoine Drissi and Timothé Menard will also share, as will Selima Hmaied.
