Songzio, the famous trendy Korean brand, has opened its first flagship store in Paris, right in the heart of one of the most prominent locations in the Marais district.
Located at 10 rue Charlot, in the 3rd arrondissement of Paris, the Songzio Paris boutique was designed by Jay Songzio, artistic director of the brand, and Hypnos XP, a renowned architecture studio based in Paris.
Indeed, the austere Korean brutalism of the Songzio boutique contrasts sharply with the neo-classical atmosphere of its Haussmannian environment.
Founded three decades ago by Song Zio in Korea, the brand underwent a sea change in recent years, when its creator handed over design duties to his son, Jay Song, in 2017.
“Songzio's collections begin on a canvas where the inspirations, ideas and emotions of the season are painted. From this painting, each outfit is meticulously designed and shaped into the final collection. The Songzio boutique in Paris captures this process creative, from the artist's first works to the final collection”, underlines the house in a press release.
The result results in a fascinating space, spread over five spaces and two floors, both bold and calm, minimalist and complex. A 7.5 meter high concrete staircase, cast in place, connects the ground floor, the large commercial space in the basement and the private office on the first floor. Two other annex spaces within the building are connected by a common passageway, allowing private guests to discover exclusive pieces from Songzio's runway collections.
Inside, raw, textured concrete blends with refined black oak. On the ground floor, monolithic columns stand with sculpted alcoves and indirect lighting, all connected by raw steel bars. An angular, sloping wall runs through the space, supporting a hanging jewelry drawer. Segmented mirrored panels display the creation's sketches, and a long, curved LED light delicately envelops the angular space.
The new store presents for the first time Songzio's fall-winter 2024 collection, which is also available at Printemps France, at HBX, Farfetch, H.Lorenzo and Dantone.
Just like the new flagship store in Seoul, this Parisian boutique is a key element of Songzio's ambitious desire to increase its turnover by nearly 20% in 2024 to reach 90 million dollars, or approximately 85.5 million euros.
