For its 21st edition, the Christmas market is evolving into an artisan village on Place Laurent Baudin. Organized by the Tourist Office, this event brings together around thirty exhibitors, with activities and new products to mark the holiday season.
A wind of novelty is blowing through Saint-Laurent-du-Maroni. The traditional Christmas market, which animated the end-of-year weekends, has transformed into an artisanal village organized during the week. Located on Place Laurent Baudin, this event offers, over two days, a unique experience where artisans and festive events come together.
Barbara Bartebin, president of the Tourist Office, explains this change:
This year, we are innovating with a Christmas village, a first for the Saint-Laurentians. It’s an opportunity for artisans to showcase their local products in a friendly, family atmosphere.
Despite a reduction in the number of exhibitors, around thirty compared to around sixty last year, the event is banking on the proximity and warmth of Place Laurent Baudin. Jewelry, clothing, leather goods and even beauty products: the stands are full of gift ideas for all tastes.
Visitors do not hide their enthusiasm. Anaëlle, who came with her children, is delighted:
It's really nice, the children love the little train and there are lots of original gifts to give. It's a change from supermarkets!
Maxime, a regular at Christmas markets, appreciates the intimate atmosphere of this new edition:
Place Laurent Baudin is perfect for this type of event. It gives a real neighborhood spirit, and singing Christmas on percussion is just magical!
Beyond shopping, the village comes alive with original activities. Tonight and tomorrow, “Christmas songs” in drums and percussion will punctuate the closing of the two days. A touch of innovation will also come with a session of « body fit » outdoors tomorrow evening, where participants will wear Christmas hats.
For the more curious, the little Saint-Laurent tourist train is also part of the party, offering walks in the city to discover or rediscover its charms. “It is also a way of promoting this future attraction, still in the finalization phase”specifies Barbara Bartebin.
As for the exhibitors, satisfaction is also there. Anita, creator of “Pangi”, shares her experience:
This village is a great opportunity for us to meet the local public and present our new products. The atmosphere is friendly, and visitors are there despite the fact that it is during the week.
As Christmas approaches, this event is also intended to be a moment of sharing and meeting people. “I hope that many residents will come to take advantage of this great initiative and support our local artisans”concludes the president of the Tourist Office.
Place Laurent Baudin awaits its visitors for an artisanal and festive Christmas, like Saint-Laurent-du-Maroni.
