ALÈS Measures to simplify parking during the holidays

To support commercial activity in the city center during the holidays, the municipality of Alès has put in place several measures intended to facilitate parking for motorists.

Parking during the holiday season is a subject often discussed by merchants. As a reminder, since September a new free measure has been implemented. Motorists now park free of charge for one hour, whether they choose a surface space or one of the underground car parks surrounding the city center. An initiative that extends to all areas, whether located in direct proximity to the city center or on the immediate outskirts.

450 free places at Bas Gardon

Due to the installation of fairgrounds on the Fairgrounds, avenue Jules Guesde, the Bas Gardon car park, which offers 450 spaces, is exceptionally free until January 15, 2025. In addition to this, there are free spaces at the station road and on part of Square Sauvages.

Tickets offered by merchants

Thanks to a partnership between the town hall and 36 city center merchants as well as the temporary Halles stalls, 30-minute parking tickets are offered subject to purchase. These tickets are valid in the Martyrs-de-la-Résistance, La Maréchale and Centr'Alès car parks. They allow motorists to accumulate up to three hours of free parking. This experiment provides for the distribution of 9,250 tickets, representing a total of 4,600 hours offered.

Minute stops and reinforced controls

Several “minute stop” locations, limited to 20 minutes, have been set up in strategic streets such as Edgard Quinet, Michelet or around the Saint-Jean-Baptiste cathedral. These spaces are intended to facilitate short-term parking. The municipal police will carry out regular checks to ensure compliance with these time limits.
