In all, 17 people poisoned by carbon monoxide

Monday, December 2 at 4:20 p.m., the Haute-Garonne firefighters intervened for a carbon monoxide detection, in a building and a nursery, located at 81 route d'Albi, Borderouge district in Toulouse. Carbon monoxide poisoning occurred in a building located in the Borderouge district on Monday, December 2, shortly after 4 p.m. In all, more than ten people were poisoned, including children present in the nursery. The final results of this intervention amounted to 17 people poisoned: 12 children and 5 adults. This intervention mobilized 33 firefighters. Among them, 7 children were taken to hospital. In Occitania in 2023, 48 poisonings were reported to the ARS. In a press release, they recall: “With the drop in temperatures and the start of the heating period, the risks of carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning increase with the use of heating appliances but also of devices such as braziers, generators and all devices equipped with a heat engine. Invisible, odorless and non-irritating, carbon monoxide is responsible for around 3,000 poisonings each year in France.
