But before knowing the face of the one who will succeed Eve Gilles, another Miss France spoke exclusively to our Gala colleagues.
It is about Miss France 1998, Sophie Thalmann. It’s thereone of the most watched bonuses of the year, on average 8 million French people are in front of the television on election night. But how did she feel 26 years ago? Sophie Thalmann recalls her memories and says she took time to talk to her daughter about her coronation.
Sophie Thalmann: “my biggest fear was falling in heels”
How does it feel just a few minutes away from being on the TF1 set in front of millions of people? “Obviously, a lot of stress and a lot of euphoria. I really wanted to do well and not mess up. I didn’t want to be ridiculous because it’s still a big live broadcast. My biggest fear was falling in heels! But it was great because it was the culmination of three weeks of preparation. I couldn’t wait to be on stage, but also to go home.” she declared.
It wasn’t long before she was able to return home because Sophie Thalmann’s life went into a whole new dimension that evening. The former beauty queen then reveals under certain conditions, she watches the election: with family, with her daughter Charlie. The opportunity for her to make a strange confession on this subject…
“It took me a while to look at it. I still had a very complicated year where I really turned the page,” she said. And added: “It took me years before watching the competition. I never told my daughter that I had won Miss France. My mother did it. I never talked about it with her. Now I do it more easily. She likes watching the election and she has already met Misses. She is super happy, but she takes it with a lot of perspective” she said.
