Tonight on TV: here’s a sublime love story with Cécile de France – Cinema News

Every day, AlloCiné recommends a film to (re)watch on . Tonight: Cécile de as a loving, strong and free woman.

Love story and maritime setting, here are two favorite themes of Héloïse Pelloquet. Indeed, four years after her last short film Côté Coeur, the young director has created a new romantic comedy with great similarities. Its title? The Passenger.

Released in cinemas in 2022, this feature film tells the story of Chiara, a sailor who lives on an island on the Atlantic coast with her husband, Antoine. They are a very loving couple. The latter taught him the trade of fisherman and they have worked together for twenty years. The arrival of Maxence, a new apprentice, will shake up their balance and Chiara’s certainties…

This romance with a sweet summer scent is brought to the screen by actress Cécile de France. Her husband, Antoine, is played by Grégoire Monsaingeon (Jeune Femme, Niki), while her lover is played by Félix Lefebvre (Summer 85, Ni Chaînes Ni Maîtres).

Cécile de France in love and free

This romantic comedy has long hovered in the mind of its director. And for good reason, Héloïse Pelloquet was keen to draw the portrait of a strong and free heroine, as she confided: “I liked that this woman, without having to theorize it, claimed her right to pleasure in a natural way and that it did not come from an intimate wound to heal or from a reflection.”

And who better placed than the actress who won a César for her role in L’Auberge Espagnole, to embody the character of Chiara on screen? The filmmaker notably explained that she fell under his spell: Cécile of France has a very natural beauty, a lot of vitality (…) So I wrote her a love letter and she answered me straight away.”

And when Cécile of France immerses itself in a romance, it sparks. Rated 3.4 out of 5, The Passenger particularly affected AlloCiné spectators, as we can read on the site: “A real gem”, “A very beautiful film about the destiny of a woman”, “Magnificent look ofHeloïse Pelloquetor even “A powerful film and Cécile of France so beautiful and touchingly natural.”

Tonight on Arte at 8:55 p.m.
