Even more sport in Nanteuil-lès-. The Departmental Council of Seine-et-Marne, the Dhuis college of Nanteuil-lès-Meaux and the Cercle Nautique de Meaux Aviron have developed an agreement for the establishment of a “ departmental sports class » optional rowing and 5th.

This system aims to promote access to sport both in schools and in associations.

“During its meeting of December 21, 2023, the Department created its system to strengthen the sporting career of middle school students. These are departmental sports classes (CSD) which, through a timetable arrangement of schedules students and the support of a supporting sports club, encourage sports practice high level oriented », Details the Department of Seine-et-Marne.

Courses adapted for these young athletes

Since September 2024, 9 girls and 4 boys, handpicked at the end of the 2023-2024 school year based on academic, behavioral and sporting criteria, have been released from classes at 4 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday, to come and practice this discipline at the Meaux rowing club.

They were selected during a call for applications, following the “Rame en 5e” operation.

With this sports class, the young students of Nanteuil-lès-Meaux are automatically members of the Meaux club. In addition to classes, four hours per week, they can come on Wednesday and Saturday afternoons to train “during the other slots open to their age category, thus strengthening the ranks of the competition sector. Supervision of the section is provided by Antoine Mangin, SVT teacher at the college, and also rower and salaried coach of the club” confides the Meaux Aviron Nautical Circle.

“A large part of the group is motivated, we see them coming outside of their class hours. »

Positive results

This win-win system has given everyone satisfaction since the start of the school year. And when the planets are thus aligned, results do not take long to arrive. Proof of this is with those obtained by these young people during the “Avirathlon” which took place on Sunday November 17, 2024 in Vaires-sur-Marne, and which consisted of a rowing race, followed by a cycling event and running: the girls came 1st, and the boys 2nd.

“This great start to the 2024-2025 season proves the seriousness of these young people and the respect for the commitment they have made” continues the club.

THE competitions will continue throughout the year with, soon, the UNSS championship. “The most diligent can even be presented at the French championship. » The objective being, for the Meaux Aviron Nautical Circle, to train the competitors of tomorrow.

Next year, a new generationwill enter the sports class of Nanteuil-lès-Meaux. This year's students will take aclassic curriculum,in 4th grade, but will have taken a liking to this new sport and will be able to continue their practice in the Meldoi club.
