Another Scandinavian extreme metal heavyweight, the Meshuggah quintet, will then be visiting the Videotron Center in the company of two other legendary metal groups.
This will be a first show in Quebec for the Umeå group, which chose the Limoilou amphitheater to launch its North American tour announced Tuesday.
The guys from Meshuggah will bring in their luggage the Florida death metal band Cannibal Corpse and the British quartet Carcass.
The 20-show tour will then move to the Great Canadian Resort in Toronto on March 29, then continue in the United States, more precisely at the Fillmore in Detroit on March 30 and end at the Madison Square Garden Theater in New York on April 24 .
Success
Founded in 1987 by singer Jens Kidman and guitarist Fredrik Thordendal, Meshuggah also features guitarist Mårten Hagström, bassist Dick Lövgren and drummer Tomas Haake.
Their albums Nothing, Catch Thirtythree et obZenlaunched respectively in 2002, 2005 and 2008, were enormously successful and in 2022 the group published its ninth opus entitled Immutable.
Their piece Clockworkstaken from the album The Violent Sleep of Reasonwas nominated for the Grammy for Best Metal Performance in 2018.
First parts
As for Cannibal Corpse, the metalheads from Quebec didn’t have time to get bored of them for long since they were the opening act for Amon Amarth’s tour which stopped at the Center Videotron six months ago.
As for Carcass, who has also never played in Quebec, many fans will have seen them at the Mtelus in Montreal on September 29.
Tickets will be on sale from 10 a.m. Friday on gestev.com and ticketmaster.ca with a presale for subscribers to the Videotron Center newsletter starting Thursday at noon.
