It will be a festive weekend in the 93. FC 93 Bobigny (N2) and JA Drancy (N3) have in fact inherited two Ligue 1 clubs for the 32nd finals (matches on December 20-21-22 ) of the Coupe de France: Angers and Nantes.
But before dreaming of a new feat on the pitch, the leaders of the two clubs will have to win a first match: that of convincing the FFF and the authorities to be able to organize the matches in their usual stadium. If Bobigny and Aubervilliers had played at the same time on Saturday during the 8th club, the two qualified clubs hope not to compete with each other so that the public of 93 can “enjoy these beautiful posters against Ligue 1.”
“I feel great joy and pride for the club and those who are involved on a daily basis,” says Siné Danioko, sports director of FC 93 Bobigny. We will do everything we can to welcome guests to our home in Seine-Saint-Denis. We demonstrated against Red Star (in the 8th round) that we knew how to host a big event in Bobigny. We gained credibility to play at home. The match will be played in the 93. If it is not possible in Bobigny, why not the Bauer stadium (Red Star) or the Stade de France? It’s extremely important for the department to receive this kind of poster. We won't have any complexes. The 93 is a department that is proud. The most important thing is that it is a great celebration for those who have given strength to the project for 10 years. It is especially them that we think of today. »
After beating Red Star, the players were also satisfied to face Angers. “We wanted to achieve a league 1 and it’s done,” says midfielder Farid Beziouen. For the club, the volunteers, the supporters, the management and the 93 it will be a celebration, hoping that all the 93 will be there to support us. Angers is a very good team that plays well. »
“We are delighted with the draw and to have come across a Ligue 1 team even if we would all have preferred PSG,” says defender Lassana Konté. We will once again show that we are capable of organizing this meeting and pleasing everyone who will be present. We will have time to prepare for this match but in the meantime, we have two championship matches which are very important for us before thinking about this match. »
On the Drancy side, we were also delighted to face FC Nantes. The leaders hope to be able to host at the Charles-Sage stadium. “We are very happy with the draw,” admits coach Himed Hamma. We are going to host a legendary Ligue 1 club which has a history. It's going to be a great party. I think the whole club will be mobilized to organize this event well. I hope we can welcome Charles Sage. It's not a quagmire, it's a football stadium with the necessary conditions to easily host a match like that. It's far from being a trap. We really hope to play at home to fully appreciate and experience this event, whatever the outcome of the match. »
JAD captain Abde Sanogo also believes that “It’s a very good draw. We play the Coupe de France to experience events like that. We hope to play at home. It's great for the 93 to have two teams playing in a 32nd final. We are going to put all the weapons on our side to try to create a surprise. We won't have any pressure. We have everything to gain from this match. Whatever happens it will be a great experience for us. »
