Three hearts out of five. The city of Caen received, Monday December 2, the plaque which formalizes its membership of the “Prudent City” label. Issued by the Prévention Road association, this plaque rewards the municipality for its efforts over several years to secure the city.
“It is a source of pride for all the elected officials and agents who contributed to this labeling. This encourages them to continue in order to obtain the five hearts”testifies Patrick Jeannenez, Municipal Councilor responsible for Prevention and road safety in Caen.
Towards an extension of 30 zones in the city
According to Pauline Jouvenaux, Normandy director of the Road Prevention association, “It’s a municipality that has made efforts in terms of road safety. These are developments that allow people to live well together for all types of mobility, notably with zones 30 or even zones 20, but also protected cycling facilities”.
Today, out of 350 kilometers of roads, 35 are in zone 30. “Within a few years, our wish is to reach 60 kilometers”explains Patrick Jeannenez.
