At only 23 years old, Shah Syedabbas is starting to make a name for himself in the demanding world of English boxing. Originally fromAvon and licensed to Defense National Sports Center (CNSD), he also trains atUS Melun English boxing. His recent resounding victory in his first professional fight, fought in Bangkok, testifies to his promising talent and his unfailing determination.
Late start, but rapid rise
Shah Syedabbas discovered boxing at the age of 17, a relatively late start in a sport in which precocity is often the norm. However, this delayed arrival in the rings has in no way slowed down his momentum. » My two brothers, Mohamed Ali et Yderquickly understood that I also wanted to wear gloves. Mohamed distinguished himself in MMA during the French championships in 2009, and Yder, who is now my manager, played a decisive role in my journey. It was thanks to them that I became a boxer,” says Shah gratefully.
Shah quickly stood out in amateur competitions. In the space of a few years, he had ten fights with only one defeat, an impressive performance for a novice. He owes this success in particular to the rigorous supervision offered by the CNSD. » Since I have been training under the guidance of Video Simeoa pillar of English boxing at the CNSD for more than 20 years, my progress has been rapid. This environment allowed me to develop my technical and physical skills,” he explains.
Combining studies and boxing, a delicate balance
If boxing occupies a central place in his life, Shah Syedabbas does not forget the importance of studies. A CCA master's student (accounting, management control and audit), he juggles between his classes and his daily training. » I am aware that boxing, despite its promises, offers no guarantee of stability. This is why I want to continue my studies at the same time. If I can flourish as a boxer while keeping my back, that’s ideal,” he says with maturity.
Although his parents were sometimes worried about the risks associated with boxing, they supported his choice, provided that he did not abandon his studies. This double ambition testifies to his discipline and his ability to project himself beyond the rings.
A first professional fight noticed
On November 23, Shah took a decisive step in his career by participating in an evening organized by the WBC Asia in Bangkok. This federation, affiliated with the prestigious World Boxing Council (WBC), is one of the main international professional boxing organizations.
In the middleweight category (76 kg), Shah faces an experienced Thai opponent, more seasoned than him. » Benefiting from dual French-Pakistani nationality and visibility on social networks, I was contacted by WBC Asia. It was a golden opportunity, but also a huge risk for a first professional fight,” he admits.
Despite the pressure and the difference in experience, Shah showed remarkable composure. In just 30 seconds, he knocked out his opponent, delivering the fastest performance of the evening. » My opponent probably underestimated me, thinking he would settle the fight easily. But an opening in the first seconds allowed me to touch him and knock him out,” he says with a hint of astonishment. This resounding victory leaves a lasting impression and places Shah in the spotlight. The promoters present at the event were quick to express their interest in the young Avonnais, already offering him the opportunity to participate in new international galas.
A future to be built step by step
This spectacular performance does not change Shah's state of mind. Aware of the pitfalls that await promising young boxers, he keeps his feet on the ground. » This first success is encouraging, but we must remain cautious. I know that the road is long to reach the world elite, and I don’t want to skip the steps,” he confides wisely. With this victory, Shah now views his career in a new light. »I am ready to put on the gloves as a professional anywhere in the world. I am waiting for proposals and I want to continue to progress,” he says.
With his talent, his rigor and the support of those around him, Shah Syedabbas seems well on his way to making a place for himself among the big names in boxing. While continuing his studies, he continues to work hard to reconcile his dreams of champion with the realities of life. One thing is certain, this young prodigy from Avon has not finished making a name for himself in the rings.
