Friday November 19, 2024, the municipality of Plouigneau (Finistère) organized a public meeting in the town hall, to explain to the population the ins and outs of two projects, one concerns housing and the other the installation of the media library , currently located on Place Coatalem in the former La Forge bar.
Difficult “economic context”
A meeting marked by transparency whose objective was to involve the population in the decisions to be taken. The first point concerned the fate of the La Forge bar.

The mayor, Joëlle Huon, communicated the technical results concerning this emblematic building of the social life of the municipality. “Unfortunately, the deconstruction work on the building revealed significant structural problems, particularly in the framework of a cracked load-bearing beam.informs the mayor. These findings, added to the safety standards to be respected for an establishment that must accommodate the public, led the experts to recommend the demolition of the building. »
The participants in the meeting were able to see, with supporting photographs, the conclusions of the expertise. The demolition decision was widely supported by those in attendance. The other project, that of the habitat of the islet and the Impasse of August 9, 1944, are maintained, but postponed in time.
Indeed, the mayor explains that “the increase in materials and the rise in interest rates are currently making the projects proposed by developers unaffordable, in Plouigneau, as elsewhere”. But the search for new partners continues. A call for expressions of interest will be launched to find new players. However, the mayor does not hide the fact that “the current economic context makes the task difficult, but the determination to provide housing remains intact”.
