, Hauts-de-, Île-de-France, Centre-Val-de-, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and the PACA region are experiencing an epidemic of bronchiolitis, announced Public Health France this Wednesday, November 27, 2024. Overseas, Guadeloupe, and Guyana are also in the epidemic phase.

The health agency notes a “increase in the vast majority of indicators” monitoring of this disease. This increase, however, comes a little later than in recent years, where the epidemic had admittedly been particularly early.

More hospitalizations

“Among children under two years old, 3,144 visits to the emergency room for bronchiolitis were recorded,” during the week of November 18 to 24, specifies in particular Public Health France. This corresponds to 13.7% of hospital visits in this age group (compared to 11.1% the previous week). “The number of hospitalizations after going to the emergency room for bronchiolitis was 958, or 27.2% of hospitalizations in this age group (compared to 23.3% the previous week)”, continues the agency.

Public Health France that medical procedures related to bronchiolitis were also on the increase last week.
