A rather strong group. The Champions Cup draw was not very kind to the RCT this Tuesday. The Red and Blacks will face the English team Harlequins, semi-finalists of the last edition. Another English team: the Sale Sharks. On the road to the Toulonnais, a Scottish club, the Glasgow Warriors, winner of the URC, a championship bringing together Welsh, Irish, Italian, Scottish and South African teams.
Finally, RCT will face the Stormers, a South African team. Racing 92 is also in this group, but two teams from the same championship cannot meet in the group stage.
The top four teams from each group will qualify for the round of 16. The first matchday of the competition will take place on 6, 7 and 8 December 2024 and the final will be played on Saturday 24 May 2025 at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff. The exact schedule is not yet known.
A new hooker
In addition, the Var club announced this Tuesday the signing of a new hooker. Italian international Gianmarco Lucchesi (22 caps) has signed until 2026. He previously played for Treviso. This is the sixth summer recruit.
