Two warrant officers from the Isère group are preparing to take on a major sporting and solidarity challenge. They will participate in the 25th edition of Raid Amazones, an exclusively female event, which will take place from November 21 to December 1 in Cambodia.
Direction Cambodia for warrant officers Mathilde T. and Mégane J., both assigned to the Isère departmental gendarmerie group. Passionate about sport, they will represent France and solidarity within this international competition mixing adventure, sport and surpassing oneself.
A unique and committed event
Since its creation in 2001 by Alexandre Debanne, the Raid Amazones has brought together teams of women from all over the world for six days of intense sporting challenges in exceptional natural settings.
After editions in Guyana, Bali, California and Sri Lanka, the raid sets up shop in Cambodia. This sporting adventure includes varied disciplines such as canoeing, mountain biking, trail running, archery and surprise events. The mornings are dedicated to competitions, while the afternoons allow participants to discover the local culture and interact with the populations.
A duo of Iséroises united by sport
Mathilde T., 34, is not her first attempt. Already a participant in the 2022 edition in Sri Lanka, she became passionate about the Raid Amazones. A fan of trail running and cross-fit, this year she found a new partner: Mégane J., 30 years old, fan of running, cani-cross and cross-fit. The two gendarmes know each other well, working together in Saint-Marcellin. After eight months of preparation and search for sponsors, they raised the necessary funds to finance their participation.
A solidarity commitment for Mécénat Chirurgie Cardiaque
In addition to the sporting aspect, each participating team has the opportunity to support a cause that is close to their heart. Mathilde and Mégane chose to represent the association Cardiac Surgery Sponsorshipwhich helps children with serious heart defects. This organization allows children from all over the world to be operated on in France when their care is impossible in their country of origin.
