“Today it’s Moussa, tomorrow it will be someone else”: Corsair flight passengers mobilize against the expulsion of a Montreuil resident

On a Corsair plane on Tuesday, July 2, passengers refused to sit down until Moussa was allowed to leave the plane and remain on French soil. Today it’s Moussa, tomorrow it will be someone else ” exclaimed a person standing and filming the scene. Moussa, on board, is deported by an OQTF to Mali, a country he left for France before he was 10 years old.

Intimidating letters were distributed to passengers by the border air police, who threatened: “ This will result in being placed in police custody and the loss of the return ticket. “Under pressure, and while the passengers were still standing, the pilot finally took off, with Moussa on board.

Evictions and placement in CRA

Now aged 26, Moussa has been living in Montreuil with his family since his arrival in France. He is involved in the association “En gare” in Montreuil, where he lives. On 23 May, following the expulsion of “En gare”, Moussa was placed in police custody and then in the Administrative Detention Centre (CRA) of Mesnil-Amelot where he was issued with an OQTF (Obligation to leave French territory).

But on June 28, a first attempt by France to expel Moussa to Mali failed thanks to the mobilization of passengers, Assa Traoré and other personalities. He was immediately placed back in CRA.

Moussa should have received from the prefecture an APS decided by the Administrative Court in 2022, but this provisional residence permit was never applied. In a press release, the association “En gare” recalls that “ Moussa is not the only person to have had to pay the price of unjust repression. “. 12 people housed received OQTF or IRTF (Prohibition of return to French territory), and two had their passports confiscated following expulsion from the place. Their situation could be even more precarious and violent following the results of July 7.

A support rally is planned for Wednesday, July 3 at 5 p.m. in front of Montreuil Town Hall.
