The 47th edition of the PIF Classic took place from June 24 to 30 at Quintal Park in the Fleurimont borough. One of the largest slow-pitch tournaments in North America even attracted teams from the United States, who return year after year and greatly anticipate this competition.

At times, there were fewer than 10,000 spectators in the stands, reported general manager Jean-Charles Doyon.

The Hotel Le Floral, located just minutes from Parc Quintal, had a successful weekend. The small 52-room accommodation had a 97% occupancy rate between Friday and Sunday, mostly by American teams participating in the PIF Classic, said the Floral’s human resources director, Félix Charest.

The RBC Sherbrooke Half Marathon was held near Jacques-Cartier Park on Sunday, with over 2,000 runners in all categories taking part. This is the best edition ever for the organizing team, the Sherbrooke Athletics Club, which is organizing the event for the second year in a row.

Next year, we would be ready to welcome no less than 3,000 participants, according to the director of road racing events, Judith Lefebvre.

Furthermore, the heat was the cause of several dozen paramedic interventions with runners during the race, since some may have underestimated the humidity. Some of these interventions also required transport to the hospital, according to the director. She and her team will try to better educate participants on this issue for the next edition.
