POLITICS – She was the only female guest of the evening and she expressed her annoyance. The rebellious deputy Clémence Guetté represented the New Popular Front in the show The Event broadcast this Thursday, July 4 on France 2, three days before the second round of the legislative elections. And she had a message to get across.

As soon as she arrived on the set, Clémence Guetté declared: “I have the feeling that feminists in this country have taken it upon themselves to remind you that in 2024 we don’t just invite men to successive interviews.” You can see the excerpt below.

In fact, France 2 had initially announced only the presence of Raphaël Glucksmann for the NFP, Gabriel Attal for the presidential majority, Jordan Bardella for the National Rally, and David Lisnard for Les Républicains. Criticism had then been rife in front of this all-male set. The name of Clémence Guetté only appeared on Thursday morning.

This situation deeply annoyed Clémence Guetté, who said she did not want to be “the female quota of anything”. But she also appealed to other political parties. “It’s not just the left that has to find female leaders to come,” she stressed.

Bardella does not want to debate

It must be said that the first debate on TF1 brought together Gabriel Attal, Jordan Bardella, as well as Manuel Bompard of La France insoumise for the NFP. For the second, the first two were still there, but the left was represented by the first secretary of the PS Olivier Faure. Each time, only men.

Finally, no female politician participated in a debate since the one planned on BFMTV was replaced by a series of interviews due to Bardella’s refusal to face environmentalist Marine Tondelier, the president of the RN wanting to face Jean-Luc Mélenchon. This Thursday on France 2, Jordan Bardella again refused the debate format.

The rebellious woman also regretted the attitude of the RN MEP: “ I know who refused, I think that Mr. Bardella does not want to debate his project, I understand it because it is really not solid but I regret it.
