On November 28, 2024, the Aveyron prefecture has planned a simulation exercise of the failure of the Couesques dam. The opportunity to test the population alert systems.

A civil security exercise “Grand Couesques Dam” is organized by the Aveyron prefecture on Thursday November 28, 2024. It will simulate the failure of the Grand Couesques Dam (located between the communes of Campouriez and Saint-Hippolyte), continued to an exceptional flood. Bordering municipalities may also be affected by FR-ALERT, including in the departments of Lot and Cantal (Cadrieu, Cajarc, Capdenac, Cuzac, Faycelles, Frontenac, Larnagol, Laroque-Toirac, Lentillac-Saint-Blaise, Lunan, Montbrun , Montredon, Saint-Pierre Toirac, Cassaniouze, Lapeyrugue, Montmurat, Montsalvy, Oldlife).

The population alert and information system (SAIP)

The national alert signal will be triggered in three successive cycles lasting 1m41s each, separated by a brief silence. A second sound signaling the end of the alert with a single cycle lasting 20 seconds will occur in the following 8 municipalities: Boisse-Penchot; Bouillac; Capdenac-Gare; Decazeville; Entraygues-sur-Truyère; Flagnac; Livinhac-le-Haut; Saint-Parthem.

The foghorns of La Rivière and Couesques Basses (communes of Saint-Hippolyte), traditionally intended to signal the imminent rupture of the structure, will sound.
