Morbihan. Claire Deya wins the Estuaire de Vilaine readers’ prize

From April 3 to November 15, 2024, readers in the region were invited to read the five books selected by Coeff 109, and to vote for their favorite. The media libraries of Muzillac, Arzal, Marzan, Nivillac, La Roche-Bernard, Herbignac, Assérac, Férel, Camoël and Pénestin (Morbihan) participate in this readers' prize as well as the two bookstores in the area.

Beforehand, the coeff 109 reading committee, made up of ten to twelve readers, read around twenty works and selected five. After reading the five works in the running, readers voted for their favorite in order of preference. The vote counting took place on November 15, 2024, at the Arzal media library, in the presence of around forty people.

138 voters

« The 138 voters gave the most votes to Claire Deya, for A world to remake (Éditions de l’Observatoire) », announces Joëlle Kergreis, from Coeff 109. The second in number of votes is Pablo Melher, for A degree of separation (Éditions Liana Lévi), followed by Christophe Penalan, for Eden, the Rockwell affair (Éditions Viviane Hamy), then Guillaume Huon, for The sleepless guardian (Éditions Calmann Levy), and Emma Doude van Troostwijk, pour Those who belong to the day (Editions de Minuit).

Coeff 109 thanks the five authors: This prize is awarded by readers, and not by a jury, this is important, indicates Joëlle Kergreis. Our objective is to maintain our territorial roots, but we would like to better fund the prize to improve support for the emergence of new authors and make them visible. One prize is enough to trigger an increase in draws. It’s a boost to first novels. « Since the creation of this prize from 1is novel from readers of the Estuaire de Vilaine, around sixty publishing houses let us know their first novels published at the start of the year. »

The books are still available in the ten media libraries and the two partner bookstores in the area. « We hope to welcome Claire Deya, the winner, during our next Naughty readings”, beginning of July 2025. We are already working on preparing our seventh edition which we will introduce to you at the beginning of April 2025. »
