Yvelines: the A14 closed overnight from Tuesday to Wednesday due to a fire simulation exercise

Be careful if you take the A14. It will be partly closed this Tuesday evening from 9:30 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. Wednesday morning. A fire simulation exercise is being organized in the Saint-Germain en Laye tunnel, indicates the prefecture in a press release. The objective is to “test and improve the interventions of emergency services and guarantee the safety of users”.

Consequently, the motorway will be closed from the A14/A86 interchange to Orgeval in the -province direction and from the A13/A14 interchange to the Paris ring road in the province-Paris direction. The entrance ramps to Chambourcy will also be closed in both directions, as well as the RD30 and RD113 diffusers in the province-Paris direction. Diversions are in place via A86, A13, RD113, RD913 and RN13

Here are the diversions put in place by the prefecture:

  • Complete closure of the A14 direction Paris-province from the A14/A86 interchange : Diversion via A86, RD913, RD113, RN13, RD113 to Orgeval (A13).
  • Closure of the Chambourcy entrance ramp in the Paris-province direction : Diversion via RD113, RD153 to A13.
  • Complete closure of the A14 direction province-Paris from the A13/A14 interchange : Detour via A13 to Boulevard Périphérique in Paris.
  • Closure in the province-Paris direction of the entrance ramps to the Chambourcy broadcaster and the RD30 and RD113 broadcasters : Diversion via the RD113, RN13, RD913 to A86.

A fire simulation exercise

This training aims to prepare the intervention services (SDIS, SANEF, CRS, sub-prefecture) to intervene effectively in the event of a real incident. Several points will be tested, explained the prefecture: the coordination of emergency teams around a realistic scenario, evacuation procedures, in particular life of emergency exits, tunnel safety equipment and complex situations such as the presence of smoke, injured or alcoholic individuals. “By simulating these situations, teams will be able to identify areas for improvement to guarantee rapid and effective intervention in reality.”
