President Jean-Claude Castel, Colonel Sylvain Besson, as well as all of Firefighters 04, expressed their deep sadness following the death of René Vial, which occurred on Sunday November 17. Originally from La Palud-sur-Verdon, René Vial was devoted to his town and its inhabitants throughout his life. Joining the departmental fire brigade in 1983, he served with commitment in the La Palud rescue center, where he notably held the position of deputy to the center head. A pioneer of mountain rescue operations, he was recognized for his passion for the territory and his knowledge of the Verdon, which he traveled with a keen sense of mutual aid and duty. His Provençal “speaking” and his unique expressions will continue to resonate in the memories of his comrades. Les Pompiers 04 send their sincere condolences to his family, his loved ones and the inhabitants of La Palud-sur-Verdon, marked by the loss of a personality as warm as he was inspiring.
