Change of direction and change of opinion. For the first time, the far right passes the first round of legislative elections in the first constituency of Savoie. In a favorable ballot with 36.16% of the votes, Typhanie Degois, LR Ciottiste line, takes the lead. The former early walker is a short head ahead of Secretary of State Marina Ferrari (35.24%) and communist Christel Granata, for the New Popular Front (22.93%).
Typhanie Degois did not suddenly succumb to the sirens of the far right. Elected as a deputy in 2017 to everyone’s surprise in this constituency, the then youngest member of the Macronist group in the National Assembly stood out from her comrades during the term of office. For example, she voted against the expansion of medically assisted procreation (MAP) and against the generalization of the health pass. In 2022, Typhanie Degois did not support Emmanuel Macron and gave her sponsorship to Marine Le Pen. “Because sponsoring a candidate does not mean supporting him, but recognizing his political anchoring in the opinion of the French”she had argued. In hindsight, it is difficult to see anything other than the first steps of an allegiance.
In 2023, she becomes a lobbyist, notably for the far-right billionaire Pierre-Edouard Stérin. Following the dissolution, Typhanie Degois returned to political affairs and made her break with Macronism.
