Le Mans. Schoolchildren delighted after the visit to the Vergers d’Aulaines farm

Tuesday June 27, 2024, at the Villaret school, in Le Mans (Sarthe), Pierrette Brebion, the president of the Opération Bouchons 72 association, presented a check for €500 to Damien Gustave, teacher of the Ulis class, to finance his educational project on the farm.

This class with a Ulis system (Localized Unit for Educational Inclusion) has twelve students with disabilities. “Keeping students for five years allows you to get to know each other well. A student who arrived in great difficulty is now calm and I am very moved because he has become school-going,” specifies Damien Gustave.

Visit to the Aulaines Orchards in Bonnétable

The visit to the Vergers d’Aulaines was very enriching. Helped by the teacher, the students recounted having smelled the aromatic herbs then fed the chickens and petted the rabbits. “And the rooster crowed and the dog barked,” they remember, joyfully.

In the meadow, Enzo was surprised to see a donkey named Enzo! There were two sweet donkeys and lots of cows.

After the picnic in the grass, everyone created their own dreidel, before leaving with a garnished basket. Only two students had ever been to a farm. It was interesting to support the agricultural sector,” adds the teacher. Two speakers help with learning: Nabila Bouabdelli is an AES (Educational and Social Support Worker) and Alysson Renard is an AESH (Educational and Social Support Worker) (student with disabilities). Then, an Operation Corks video showed the transformation of the corks into Sulo-engraved trash cans. “Every year, we donate €500 for children” concludes the treasurer.

Nathan Châron, municipal councilor of Le Mans, is delegate for disability : “I congratulate the teaching team of the Villaret school and the Solidarité bouchons association for the donation. This support for school inclusion, agriculture and ecology is a beautiful fraternity that we really need.”

For delivery of the check, the class was filled with both solidarity classes CM2 and CE2/CM1 of Ms. Patard and Lebrun.
