Mulhouse Zoological and Botanical Park in summer mode: workshops, games, guided tours and outdoor activities!

The Mulhouse Zoological and Botanical Park, a European center for the conservation and knowledge of endangered species and a tourist flagship of Mulhouse Alsace Agglomeration (m2A), is full of activities to offer a great summer to residents and tourists in the Agglomeration. On the program, workshops for children, themed guided tours, the “Ciné sous les étoiles” operation and two nights of the Bat?

Summer workshops offered to children every Wednesday in July, upon registration.

Like every year, the Park’s educational team has put together a quality program for the youngest, around different fun workshops:

  • Wednesday July 3: “Meeting the herbivores”
    Children aged 6 to 12 will observe some of the park’s vegetarian animals and, in small groups, will feed some of them. Observing the skulls of each species will help them understand how these animals are adapted to their diet.
  • Wednesday July 10: “The little monkeys”
    Children aged 5 to 8 will set off to explore South America and its Amazon rainforest, discovering its little furry guests: tamarins, marmosets and squirrel monkeys.
  • Wednesday July 17: “Gifts for parrots”
    Children aged 6 to 12 will meet some of the most beautiful birds in the Park and prepare food enrichments and games for them that they will love.
  • Wednesday July 24: “Meeting the piscivores”
    Children aged 6 to 12 will discover piscivores, animal species that love fish, which they can feed themselves. Observing the skulls of each species will help them understand how these animals are adapted to their diet.

Children are taken care of from 1:45 p.m. at the Park reception until the end of the activity at 4:00 p.m., subject to their proper registration.

All registration fees will be donated to conservation programs supported by the Mulhouse Zoological and Botanical Park (m2A), in favor of endangered species in the wild. Thus, payment is made upon registration at the Park secretariat (03 69 77 65 67), by check made out to the Friends of the Zoo.

Price: €20 for the child entry and workshop package.

Free guided tours to discover the Park, labeled “Remarkable Garden”

The Zoological and Botanical Park is still offering a free guided tour this summer, accessible to all (young and old):

  • Wednesday July 3: “Original foliage”
    The opportunity to discover surprising foliage created by nature, or even something to give ideas for your garden.
    To attend, simply go to the Park reception at 2:30 p.m. for 1.5 to 2 hours of immersion in the Park, with explanations from professionals from the Nature and Green Spaces department of the City of Mulhouse.

For entry at the usual price, the guided tour is completely free (maximum capacity: 15 people).

After a summer break to make way for other activities, the next guided botanical tours can be found on:

  • Wednesday September 4: “The Hydrangea Collection”
    A type of shrub with different shapes of flowers, foliage and even bark,
  • Wednesday October 2: “Autumn foliage”
    A magic of colors preceding the fall of the leaves; the opportunity to address the factors of this astonishing mutation.

For a visit more focused on the discovery of wildlife, the Park’s educational service invites you to meet on Wednesday September 18 for “Who eats who? Who eats what? »

Two “Vietnamazing!” Sundays on Sundays July 7 and 14

The Zoological and Botanical Park once again offers visitors a trip to the other side of the world, during an exceptional day dedicated to the richness of the fauna of the Annamite mountains, on the border of Laos and Vietnam.

On Sundays July 7 and 14, free activities will be offered for young and old from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on the wallabie meadow: treasure hunt, illustrated tale in the form of a Kamichibai, observation, skill and reflection, preparation of food enrichments with a gibbon carer for their snack (registration essential on the site, limited places) or even a creative origami workshop to leave with a souvenir!

A “Cinema under the stars” evening on Tuesday August 27

Every year, the Zoological and Botanical Park invites the public to experience an exceptional moment, benefiting from the free screening of a quality film in the open air, in an exotic setting, while being welcomed by the singing of the animals.

This summer, the animated film “Rango” (2011) will be screened on the evening of Tuesday, August 27, and will invite visitors to experience the adventures of this courageous chameleon who improvises as sheriff to confront animals, each more extravagant than the last.

Practical information: Free – Public reception from 8:30 p.m. – Screening begins at 9:15 p.m.

Two evenings at the Park for the 28th International Bat Night: Friday August 30 and Friday September 6!

For 28 years, an International Bat Night has allowed a wide audience to discover the biology, lifestyle, threats and also the protection actions implemented to preserve Chiroptera (“chiro” meaning “hand”, and “ptère” meaning “wing”), more commonly known as bats.

In France, it is the French Society for the Study and Protection of Mammals (SFEPM), which organizes it, relying on local initiatives and partnerships.

On the territory of Mulhouse Alsace Agglomération, the Mulhouse Zoological and Botanical Park has been mobilizing for several years with the Group for the Study and Protection of Mammals of Alsace (GEPMA) to better promote in synergy this endangered species that are the balds -mouse.

For this 28th edition, the Park is offering to welcome visitors from all walks of life during two Bat Nights, on Friday August 30 and Friday September 6 in the evening.

Armed with ultrasonic detectors to hear the cries of bats, visitors to the Park will discover these often little-known nocturnal animals, thanks to information and support from GEPMA specialists and Park professionals.
