Legislative elections in Val-de-Marne: Vincent Jeanbrun prepares to face Rachel Keke in the 7th constituency

Two big personalities will face each other next Sunday in the 7th constituency of Val-de-Marne (Thiais, Fresnes, Rungis, Chevilly-Larue, L’Haÿ-les-Roses). On one side, Vincent Jeanbrun (LR), mayor of L’Haÿ-les-Roses, symbol of the republican arc, particularly since the attack on his home during the riots following Nahel’s death. On the other, Rachel Keke (LFI-NFP) and her extraordinary career, from the union of the Hôtel des Batignolles to the Palais-Bourbon.

With a record participation rate of 65.76% in the constituency, voters voted 43.65% for the outgoing rebellious MP Rachel Keke, whom we were unable to contact despite our repeated requests. In second position, the mayor of L’Haÿ-les-Roses Vincent Jeanbrun (LR) has a score of 34.64%. On the third step of the podium, the National Rally candidate Claude Lédion obtained 18.89% of the votes cast, which did not allow him to qualify for the second round.

During the two hours following the opening of the polling stations, voters in an office in L’Haÿ-les-Roses were unable to vote for this candidate… due to lack of ballots. An “intentional omission is unacceptable” for the RN candidate, who could file an appeal. The ballots had apparently “left at the bottom of a box”. “It’s the National Rally, it’s not a small party that doesn’t have the funds to print ballots. The president of the office should have checked,” laments an assessor.

Rachel Keke well ahead

On Sunday evening at the L’Haÿ town hall, estimates were going well until the last moment. “It’s going to be complicated,” said an employee who participated in the counting. “It’s not bad. It’s under control. It’s a good score but not a score that breaks the score,” judges an employee of the mayor of L’Haÿ-les-Roses. At the head of the town since 2020, the former spokesperson for the Republicans did not pass the first round of the 2022 legislative elections.

Around fifty people, faithful and opposition mixed together, waited impatiently for Vincent Jeanbrun to place himself in the spotlight. “We hoped we could be qualified and that is the case, so personally I am happy,” says the Republican candidate. Now the Republic side and the Chaos side will clash. I will be in the camp of those who defend the beautiful values of the Republic. »

Vincent Jeanbrun’s brief speech to announce the results of the constituency ended with boos from the opposition, quickly drowned out by the signs of support from his faithful. “Considering how ungovernable it is,” one whispers, “I tell you that in a year we will be back at the polls. »
