Armed with binoculars, several ornithologists are observing birds this Sunday morning in around thirty strategic points along the route of the very high voltage line which will link Jonquières Saint Vincent to Fos-sur-mer. The initiative lies with the association Naccica and at CoGardthe ornithological center of Gard who hope in this way alert the public authorities to the risk of electrocution that this THT line would represent. According to them, the Camargue is in fact a sanctuary for birds which migrate from Northern Europe to Africa, all along the Rhône valley and Terre d'Argence. This 400,000 volt line has been running for months unanimously against it. Associations opposed to its construction are calling for alternative solutions to spare the environment, landscapes and the local economy, particularly with burying the line.
