A slightly burned man
When the first engines arrived on site, firefighters noted that the fire had broken out in an apartment located on the ground floor of a three-story building. “The fire affected the kitchen part of the apartment, with smoke spreading to the common areas,” explains the Loire departmental fire and rescue service.
The occupant of the apartment was able to escape from the accommodation before emergency services arrived. Aged 40, “he was bothered by the smoke from the fire and has slight burns to his upper limbs”.
Residents evacuated during the intervention
While the thirty-four firefighters
mobilized on the intervention were working to stop the spread of the disaster and to clear the building of smoke, fourteen other residents were evacuated from their homes. All were unhurt and were received “in a reception center for those involved” away from the scene of the intervention.
Firefighters from several Saint-Etienne barracks (Berland, Séverine and La Métare) were mobilized, receiving reinforcement from crews from Rive-de-Gier and Firminy as well as a medical team from SAMU42.
