This small town in Lot-et-Garonne celebrates Armagnac and Christmas in tradition

As desired tradition every year, once the harvest is over, the whole of Gascony lives to the rhythm of the distillation of Armagnac. There Flame of Armagnac is indeed the one who lights the still, the instrument which will be used for distillation, to celebrate the new vintage. And it has resumed its fall tour and is once again hitting the roads. After Eauze, Condom, Labastide d'Armagnac and Montréal du Gers, it is the turn of Mezinthe only municipality in Albert (Lot-et-Garonne) which hosts the event on Sunday December 1, 2024.

Armagnac hike and free mixology workshops

The festivities will begin with the second edition of the Armagnac hike. Meet at 9:30 a.m. at the Cave de Mézin for a welcome coffee with Robert de Langalerie, the president who will show you around the cellars. The start of the hike is scheduled for 10 a.m., a 4.5 km route open to all and supervised through the vineyards to the orientation table, a stop at the Ferme de Gagnet and an arrival around 12 p.m. on the square from the club for an aperitif offered by the town hall.

In the afternoon, participants will be able to admire demonstrations of making Gascon croustades or try your hand at mixology and learn how to compose Armagnac-based cocktails supervised by professional bartenders.

A lovely Christmas market

With the Christmas decorations freshly installed on the kiosk square, the children will enjoy a lovely program.

From 10 a.m., they will be able to start or finalize their gift order and slip their letter into Santa's mailbox. Carriage, face painting, shows, the municipality has planned a multitude of activities to await the arrival of Santa Claus and the snack. This family event is also organized around a market of creators and artisans offering a large selection of gift ideas and hosted by Cocktail Blues. At 12 p.m., time for a meal prepared by the Mézin hunting company.
