The French N1 champion USB Bordeaux hoped to ride the euphoria of the title to tease the Val-d’Oise club and why not experience a happy ending. But that was before the first leg which had already put Pedrag Nosovic’s men in a very uncomfortable position to seek the ticket to the elite, since the outlay of eight goals was almost prohibitive (8-16).

The logical defeat of the return match in even more significant proportions on Saturday evening only served to measure the giant gap between the top level and the antechamber (17-4). As in the first leg, the Girondins experienced a big delay in ignition (4-0, 9’21) and took the full brunt of Taverny’s accuracy and desire to keep its place among the ten best French teams.

At half-time, the die was cast (8-1, 16’00) and the second half only accentuated the show of strength of the Parisians. With a squad that should not be upset and a Pedrag Nosovic still at the helm, as well as the experience gained from this play-off, Bordeaux Saint-Bruno can aim for promotion next season.
