In the Landes, the Cimade, whose original meaning is Inter-movement committee for evacuees, is represented by a very dynamic team.
Like every year, hundreds of volunteers throughout France are involved in the creation, programming and organization of the Migrant'scène festival which takes different forms depending on the city. In 2024, the theme is: Let's weave tomorrow! Make way for alternatives, make way for otherness! Local manager Françoise and her treasurer Jean-Pierre, accompanied by volunteers like Jeanne and Marina, among others, are organizing a Cinema Festival from November 21 to December 10 in several towns in the department.
The Cimade aims to demonstrate active solidarity with oppressed and exploited people. It defends the dignity and rights of refugees and migrants, whatever their origins, political opinions or beliefs. All the initiatives put in place during this period aim to achieve a triple objective: Better connect activists with each other, make themselves known to each other, be an information tool serving people with needs. training, legal support, medical care, etc., and make this solidarity visible.
The program began on November 21 in Mugron with the screening of the film Anaïs is going to love, it is continued in Larbey at the Boissec café by a play Migrants: the fear of the unknown, followed by an African meal and now it is in Dax at the Grand Club cinema, on the 26th, in Saint-Vincent- de-Tyrosse at the Grand-Ecran on the 28th, at the Rio de Capbreton on the 30th and to close this festival in Mont-de-Marsan on December 10.
