Facing Spain for the organization of the 2030 World Cup final, Morocco can believe in its chances, according to the president of the Portuguese Federation (FPF).
While no decision has been made on the allocation of the 2030 World Cup final, jointly organized by Spain, Morocco and Portugal, the battle is fierce between the Cherifian Kingdom and the Iberian Kingdom, while the third Portuguese candidate, out of competition, seems to be a spectator who has things to say.
Asked about Morocco’s chances of winning the final, the president of the Portuguese Federation (FPF), Fernando Gomes, said he was very confident about the Kingdom’s ability to take care of it, nevertheless confirming that nothing is yet decided.
“This is a question that will be analyzed of course. In Spain, in my opinion, there are stadiums capable of hosting the opening match and the final. Morocco too, with the construction of a stadium in Casablanca. (…) The decision regarding the location where the 2026 World Cup final will be played was taken (…) only in 2024 (on February 4, editor’s note). It is an evaluation process. Of course, the characteristics of the stadium and its ability to generate income will be taken into account. This is a decision that will be taken after the presentation of the file. But of course, Casablanca, with the ability that I recognize in Moroccans to build very beautiful buildings, meets all the conditions to host the opening match or the final.”he said in an interview with Antar Abdelwarit.
As a reminder, the committee of the joint candidacy of Morocco-Portugal-Spain for the 2030 FIFA World Cup, “YallaVamos2030” affirmed that“no final decision has yet been made regarding the number of stadiums, their geographical distribution or the allocation of matches by country.”
A statement issued by the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) following a committee meeting held on June 27 and 28 in Agadir, indicates that “Any official information on this subject will be communicated through official channels”.
