« Develop and enhance the town center “. This is the subject of the public meeting scheduled for Thursday, November 28 in Baziège. During this meeting open to residents, the town hall will present urban study launched in 2022 on the enhancement of the city heart.

This is the “ plan-guide» of the municipality which will be presented, from 7 p.m., at the Coopé de Baziège. This is the restitution of the urban study begun in 2022 in partnership with the Region and the UP + Ateliers of the SCE design office.

Restoration to the town center

“This meeting aims to discuss the upgrading of the town center, by joining forces with the inhabitants of Baziège for their present the results of the design office and know their feelings,” informs the mayor of Baziège, Jean Roussel contacted by Voice of Midi Lauragais.

After identification of advantages of the town center(heritage and architectural potential, living and attractive city heart, etc.), these are the weaknesses that were particularly highlighted(conflicts of use, lack of space for pedestrians, certain unattractive places, etc.).

More liveable for pedestrians

“We want to try to make the city center more livable for everyone, with natural and more pleasant spaces for pedestrianswhile taking into account that a certain number of parking spaces are necessary,” explains the mayor.

A study which questions, among other things,the future of the Coopwhose 1937 facade should be preserved, but whose building “presents risks”, specified the councilor.

Market shift?

L’ location of the open-air marketcurrently organized in the Grand Rue, will also be discussed during this meeting.

This would no longer have its place, causingtraffic problems due to street blockingamong others for traders,” notes Jean Roussel.
