Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti has been accused of negligence and mishandling his now injured winger Vinicius Jr. by some corners in Spain.
Through an official statement published just past midday in the Spanish capital on Monday, Madrid confirmed that its winger had suffered a setback after playing 90 minutes in a 3-0 win over Leganes the day before.
“Following the tests carried out today on our player Vini Jr. by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with an injury to the femoral biceps of his left leg,” an official statement on the matter read.
Though the club didn’t give an expected recovery timeframe, MARK put it at one month.
That means that Vinicius will definitely miss Wednesday’s must-win encounter with 2021/2022 UCL final foes Liverpool at Anfield, in addition to another tie on the continent with Europa League winners Atalanta.
In the league, he is likely to sit out clashes against Getafe, Athletic Club, Girona and Rayo Vallecano while hoping to make it back in time for the Intercontinental Cup in late December.
On X, formerly known as Twitter, Vinicius pointed the finger at soccer’s “crazy calendar” for his latest injury setback.
Elsewhere, though, others are directing theirs at Ancelotti for “negligence” with the Ballon d’Or runner up as highlighted by SPORT.
Thus far this season, Vinicius has played a total of 22 matches with club and country. Since October 9, he has completed the full 90 minutes in seven of eight fixtures while still mustering 75 when he scored a hat trick against Osasuna on the eve of the November international break.
With Endrick, Arda Guler and Brahim Diaz always ready to step up if Ancelotti takes Vinicius off or even rests him, the Italian will have to manage his number 7’s game time better as the campaign progresses.
In his absence until pretty much the end of the year, Mbappe could take his place on the left while Endrick is the central target man.
Or in another tactical set up, Mbappe partners Arda or Brahim up front in a 4-4-2 while Jude Bellingham is a false 9.
