Météo France has placed the Côte-d’Or on orange alert this Saturday, June 29 from 4 p.m. for a rainy-stormy episode. A high risk of violent phenomena is expected, stay very vigilant!

The Côte-d’Or is placed on orange alert from this Saturday at 4 p.m., and until midnight due to a highly stormy situation which, according to forecasts, will be accompanied by:

  • hail and hailstones up to 5 cm in diameter
  • violent gusts of wind of around 80 to 100 km/h, with peaks reaching 120 km/h;
  • heavy rainfall of 70 to 80 mm, reaching 40 mm in just one hour.

Recommendations from the prefecture

The Côte d’Or prefecture is calling on mayors and event organizers to cancel any event scheduled to take place outdoors.

She also invites them to remain vigilant and take all necessary measures to protect populations and property.

The prefect of Côte-d’Or has decided to activate a departmental operational center at the prefecture at 4 p.m. in order to monitor the development of the situation and make operational decisions with all the relevant services.

The prefecture recommends:

  • avoid outdoor activities, outings in the mountains, in the forest or near a stream;
  • to limit movement and take shelter;
  • not to take shelter under an umbrella, under a tree or against a wall;
  • not to touch any electrical wires that have fallen to the ground under any circumstances.
