The storm front is moving eastward but the risks persist. In its map issued this Saturday, June 29, 2024, at 4 p.m., Météo France placed XX departments on orange alert for risks of violent storms. There were 28 in the last alert bulletin and even 34 at midday, but the South-West is no longer concerned.

Météo France mentions a “remarkable stormy situation” and alert on “very high rainfall intensity”gusts of 100 to 120 km/h in places, with risks of “large hail” locally.

Switzerland on alert

Note that Switzerland has also issued an alert bulletin due to storm phenomena, level 4 out of 5, i.e. « fort danger possible » across the entire west of the country, along the border with France, from Geneva to Basel. The Alps and Ticino are also on level 4 storm alert.

“Locally violent thunderstorms with significant accumulations of precipitation, hail and stormy gusts, particularly in the Jura and western Lake Geneva in the Lake Geneva region”writes the Federal Meteorological Service.

While the national football team faces Italy in the round of 16 of the Euro at 6 p.m., several fan zones have been canceled as a precaution.
