The Toulouse public prosecutor’s office (Haute-Garonne) opened an investigation into the circumstances of the death after the discovery of a 5-month-old baby found deceased in a vehicle, Friday June 28, 2024, late in the afternoon.
An investigation into the circumstances of the death was opened on Friday June 28, 2024 in Toulouse (Haute-Garonne), according to the prosecution, after the discovery of a baby found deceased at the end of the afternoon in a vehicle.
The child, barely 5 months old, was discovered inert around 5 p.m. in a car parked in full sun in the parking lot of a company in Basso Combo, as revealed by our colleagues at The Midi Dispatch.
According to the newspaper, the alert was given around 5 p.m. after an employee of the company had “returns to his vehicle after his day’s work” et “discovered her baby in the back of the locked car.” The child would have spent the whole day there in the heat and would have suffered from hyperthermia which would have led to severe and fatal dehydration.
The pediatric emergency services called to the scene could only confirm the child’s death. A medical-psychological unit was set up.
An investigation has been entrusted to the police to determine the circumstances which led to this terrible tragedy.
